About the Company

The Community of the Transfiguration is a 125-year-old community of Episcopalian Sisters, headquartered on a beautiful 23-acre campus in Glendale Village, just north of Cincinnati, Ohio. They sponsor the following ministries: Bethany School (K – 8), Food for the Soul food rescue and kitchen, the Transfiguration Spirituality Center retreat and accommodations ministry, St. Monica’s Recreation Center in Lincoln Heights, and the Transfiguration Nature Preserve in Bat Cave, NC.

About the Role

Oversees all budgeting and accounting for the Society of the Transfiguration Convent and ministries. Supervises accounting staff. Reports to the Administrator.

Responsibilities

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.  

  • Oversees the workflow of the department. 

  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.


Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Ensures compliance with applicable laws. 

  • Works collaboratively with Bethany School finance and accounting departments.  

  • Establishes appropriate financial controls and procedures to manage SOT resources in a prudent manner. 

  • Maintains confidentiality and rights to privacy applicable to individual and institutional records. 

  • Plans, implements, and supervises SOT’s annual budgets, in collaboration with applicable ministries and departments. 

  • Manages SOT’s financial accounts, payrolls, budget, cash receipts, checking accounts, liability/property insurance and financial assets. 

  • Evaluates statements from SOT investment institutions. 

  • Oversees all transactions and cash flow forecasting. 

  • Provides independent accountants with needed information. 

  • Follows proper accounting procedures. 

  • Monitors and analyzes financial accounting data. 

  • Keeps abreast of accounting and financial best practices and utilizes proven up to date tools to automate processes. 

Requirements


Required Skills/Abilities:  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills. 

  • Proficient in accounting software. 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. 

  • Excellent management and supervisory skills. 

  • Familiarity with property and liability insurance. 


Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required. 

  • Eight years or more of related experience required. 

  • Certified Public Accountant designation preferred. 


Physical Requirements:  

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 

  • Must be able to lift fifteen pounds at times.  

  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.  

Estimated salary/compensation and benefits:

Salary range: $85,000 - $95,000. Generous time-off, excellent healthcare benefits and 7% - 9% 403(b) match, flexibility regarding working remotely.
